Privacy Policy

We care about protecting your data. This policy explains which personal data we process when you use gscpickleball.ch, in particular when you contact us or register for a tournament, why we process it and what your rights are. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, in force since 1 September 2023) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2.1 Visiting the website

When you visit the site, our host Netlify automatically records technical data: IP address, date and time, page visited, browser and operating system. This data is used only to run and secure the site and fix errors.

No analytics, no advertising. The site uses no audience-measurement tool and no advertising pixel. It sets no cookies itself and stores nothing in your browser (no cookies, no local storage). Only the embedded Google Maps may lead to cookies from Google (see section 3).

2.2 Contact form

The contact form sends nothing to our website: it opens your own e-mail program with a pre-filled message. If you send it, we receive your name, e-mail address and message in the association’s mailbox (hosted in Switzerland by Infomaniak). We use them only to reply to you.

2.3 Tournament registration

When you register, we process:

• your first name, last name, e-mail address and mobile number;
• the draw(s) you chose, your partner’s name or your request that we find you one;
• whether you need to borrow a paddle;
• the discount code used, if any;
• your language, your confirmation that you are 18 or older and accept the tournament rules;
• the amount paid, the payment status and its Stripe reference.

We use this data to organise the tournament (draws, teams, schedule), confirm your registration by e-mail, contact you about the tournament and keep the association’s accounts. Processing is necessary to carry out your registration.

Payment. Payment takes place on Stripe’s secure page, outside our site. Your payment details (card, TWINT…) are entered directly with Stripe: we never have access to them. On its own page, Stripe uses cookies needed for payment security and fraud prevention.

Your partner. If you give your partner’s name, please let them know. We use it only to form your team.

2.4 Tournament WhatsApp group

We use your mobile number to add you to the tournament WhatsApp group, where we share the schedule and practical information. Other group members see your number and WhatsApp name. You can leave the group at any time; if you don’t want to be added, write to us. WhatsApp processes this data under its own terms. The group is closed no later than three months after the tournament.

3. Third-party content embedded in the site

Some pages display content provided by third parties. To show it, your browser connects to their servers, which receive your IP address:

• Google Maps (Participate, Contact and Tournament pages): the map loads when you scroll to it. Google may then set cookies, under its own privacy policy.
• YouTube (Learn page): the video is embedded in “privacy-enhanced mode” (youtube-nocookie.com), which sets no cookie when the page is displayed. If you play the video, YouTube may store data.
• Google review photos and LottieFiles animations (home and Participate pages): these images and animations are loaded from Google’s and LottieFiles’ servers, which receive your IP address but set no cookies.

4. Service providers and transfers abroad

We never sell or rent your data. We share it only with the providers needed to run the site and the tournament:

Some of these providers process data in the United States. Such transfers rely on the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on standard contractual clauses recognised by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). European Union countries offer an adequate level of protection under Swiss law.

5. How long we keep your data

• Tournament registrations: until the end of the tournament, then deleted no later than 12 months afterwards. Payment information needed for accounting is kept for 10 years, as required by the Swiss Code of Obligations.
• Unpaid bookings: the place is released after 15 minutes; the data is deleted together with the other registrations.
• Messages received by e-mail: as long as needed to handle your request, at most 2 years.
• Technical visit data: according to our host’s retention period, limited to what security requires.

6. Security

The site is only available over HTTPS (encrypted connection). Registration data is stored in a database that cannot be accessed from the public site and can only be viewed by the organisers. Payments are processed by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS certified.

7. Your rights

You may at any time:

• find out what data we hold about you and get a copy;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• ask for it to be deleted, subject to our legal obligations (accounting);
• object to processing or withdraw your consent;
• receive your data in a common format to pass it on to another service.

Write to us at contact@gscpickleball.ch. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to prove your identity.

8. Other information

We make no automated decisions about you and do no profiling. Tournaments are open to people aged 18 and over only.

We may update this policy, for instance if we add a service to the site. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of the page.
